About the role

An exciting new opportunity has come available to join ARRCS Hetti Perkins Home for the Aged facility located in Alice Springs as their Grounds Person. This position is being offered on a part-time, permanent basis of 20 hours per week and an hourly rate of $26.04 - $26.56 / hour gross (dependent on skills and experience).

This role will see you providing gardening, weeding, planting and general maintenance of our facilities grounds and gardens.

As the successful candidate, you will ideally have previous experience in gardening, landscaping or handyman capacity and are comfortable to work with and amongst our elderly residents. You will be a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and outdoors. You will have knowledge of the correct use of landscaping equipment including mowers, whipper snippers, trimmers etc.

Skills & experience

To be considered for this role, we will be looking at the following experience and qualifications:

  • Comfortable working ad hoc as work requires and able to work outdoors.
  • Prior experience working in landscape, gardening or handyman roles.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with and interacting with our elderly residents with respect and dignity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive work ethic with strong problem-solving skills.
