Contract type: Full time

About the role

Join our team as a Data Governance Analyst and help drive the development and implementation of our Personal Information (PI) retention and secure disposal policy. Your work will directly support data privacy, reduce the risk of breaches, and minimise exposure from aging datasets.

We’re looking for a proactive and results-driven professional with experience in data mapping, requirements mapping, lineage analysis, or inventory assessments, with a solid grasp of both structured and unstructured data formats. Strong skills in Power BI or Excel for reporting and visualisation are a must.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of systems and data stores containing Personal Information (PI), partnering with IT teams.
  • Classify and tag PI based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements to support proper handling and retention.
  • Assess PI data holdings to identify aged data and evaluate governance, controls, and processes against regulatory requirements and Privacy by Design principles, recommending and prioritising remediation actions.
  • Develop and document PI retention periods and support updates to related policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of a data retention and secure disposal framework aligned with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Work with Compliance, Legal, Technology, and Cyber Security to operationalise policy and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee safe disposal and archival processes, ensuring audit-readiness and clear documentation.
  • Provide guidance, track progress, and report on risks to senior leadership and governance forums.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in data mapping, requirements mapping, lineage analysis, or inventory assessments.
  • Strong skills in working with both structured and unstructured data formats.
  • Proficiency in Power BI or Excel for reporting and visualisation.
  • A degree in Law, Privacy, or a related discipline, and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in privacy or data governance.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations, records management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), data storage technologies, and secure data disposal practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing change and taking responsibility for delivering measurable results.
