The Role

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an HR Business Partner to join the People & Development (P&D) team in Clayton Utz's Brisbane office on a permanent full time basis.

Working with a dynamic and collaborative team, and reporting to the Brisbane P&D Manager, you will play a key role in providing trusted advice to our partners, managers, and employees. As part of the broader P&D team, you will drive the delivery of people initiatives and operations across the employee life cycle, ensuring alignment with the firm's overarching people strategy.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert advice on firm policies and employee relations matters.
  • Undertake the cyclical activities such as promotions, annual performance and remuneration reviews, and talent identification for your client groups.
  • Drive recruitment and workforce planning initiatives to meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Leadership team to identify individuals for the firm's excellence programs and other development opportunities.
  • Champion culture and engagement initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace.
  • Coach and support partners, managers, and employees to achieve their goals.
  • Advocate for the firm's diversity and inclusion strategy, ensuring it is embedded in all aspects of the employee experience.
  • Promote the firm's health and wellbeing programs, connecting individuals to support services as needed.
  • Contribute to key projects and change management initiatives that align with the firm's strategic priorities.

Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous HR generalist experience in a similar business partnering role within a complex, professional, and highly client-focused environment.
  • A proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability to drive projects through to successful completion.
  • Experience within the legal profession or professional services (advantageous but not essential).

With a presence in each of our offices, the national P&D team is an integral part of our Business Advisory Services department. The team provides strategic business partnering support to the firm, delivering a range of initiatives to ensure Clayton Utz remains a great place to work.
