Role Purpose

Overview Of Role

The Paid Media Specialist is responsible for the planning, activation, and optimisation of Paid Search and Programmatic media campaigns across channels that currently include Paid Search, Display and Video and could grow to include Audio, DOOH, and BVOD/CTV. This role supports clients within the Australian market and is based in Melbourne. Working in close alignment with Open Partners’ UK-based teams, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in local campaign strategy, execution and market insight-requiring a high degree of self-sufficiency, proactivity, and ownership.

Paid Media Specialist

As a Paid Media Specialist, you will be a trusted, hands-on lead for Australian clients across Search and Programmatic media. You will serve as a key contact locally, managing end-to-end campaign delivery while collaborating with strategy and planning teams headquartered in the UK. You’ll support strategic development, own activation and performance, and ensure campaigns are tailored to local market dynamics and client goals.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute Paid Media campaigns across Paid Search and Programmatic channels tailored to the Australian market.
  • Lead local campaign delivery from brief to execution, including set-up, budget management, optimisation, reporting, and analysis.
  • Activate campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, DV360, Teads, and Amazon DSP.
  • Translate UK-driven strategic direction into locally relevant media plans that meet client KPIs and business goals.
  • Take ownership of campaign performance and deliver actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the region, providing confident, regular communication including channel strategy and performance updates.
  • Collaborate effectively with UK-based colleagues while independently managing day-to-day client needs and campaign execution.
  • Stay on top of regional market trends, publisher developments, and emerging technology relevant to Australian media buying

Role Details

Reports to: Client Partner based in Australia.

Responsible for: Paid Search and Programmatic delivery for Australia based clients.

Location: Melbourne & Hybrid (please note - this role will be expected to work from the Clients office 2 days per week).

Hours / Days: 38 hours, over 5 days per week.

Contract basis: Fixed term for 12 months.

To Be Successful In This Role

  • 5+ years of Paid Search & Programmatic experience.

Must Have

Skills & Experience required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Paid Search and Programmatic media with proven application in the Australian market.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage full media campaign lifecycles—from planning and activation to reporting and optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising platforms, regional market nuances, and media, data and creative best practices.
  • Experience with:
    • Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising
    • DV360, Teads Ad Manager and Amazon DSP
    • Google Analytics
  • Proficiency in:
    • Google Sheets / Excel (pivot tables, formulas, v-lookups)
    • Google Slides / PowerPoint for building client-ready reports and decks
  • Experience in both Display and Video buying (programmatically), with experience across audio, DOOH and Connected TV a bonus.
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to provide clear, actionable insight in fast-paced, performance driven environments.
  • Commercial acumen, with an understanding of the operational complexities involved in working with global brands or companies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting insights to clients.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple campaigns with minimal oversight.
  • A proactive, resourceful mindset—comfortable working independently within a globally distributed team.
Desirable

  • Experience with Search Ads 360, DV360 and Campaign Manager.
  • Previously worked with brands in the travel industry.
  • Google Marketing Platform certifications.
  • Advanced Excel/data handling experience.
  • Familiarity with omni-channel DSPs and formats, including BVOD/CTV, DOOH, and Audio.
  • A strong understanding of the complexities of end to end measurement.
  • A degree in marketing, media, business, or analytics (not required, but a plus).
  • Experience with Amazon Ads.
