Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.


Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.


We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Canberra for a Maritime project.


What You’ll Do


This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:


  • Act as the Training Manager for SEA4000 Phase 6, coordinating across internal and external training stakeholders to ensure alignment of training deliverables with capability outcomes.
  • Provide training assurance and updates to project leadership including the Project Director, Integrated Project Manager, ILS Manager, FIC Manager, and S4KPH3/3.3 Project Manager
  • Present training progress and status briefs at Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with project schedulers to ensure training milestones are accurately reflected in the Master Schedule.
  • Develop the Training Coordination and Integration Plan in accordance with the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL).


What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience managing training systems within Defence/Navy acquisition and sustainment environments.
  • Strong understanding of the SADL framework, Navy schoolhouse structure, and maritime training pipelines.
  • Project management qualifications or experience leading complex integrated work packages.
  • Familiarity with Aegis and AusCMS training environments highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management ability.


Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
