Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our information technology team in South Perth. This is a pivotal role responsible for the implementation, management, and support of our core server infrastructure, ensuring the security, availability, and performance of systems that underpin our mining operations and business functions.

Key Accountabilities Include

  • Server & Operating System Administration: Administer and manage Microsoft Windows Server environments and core services, ensuring system performance, security, and compliance through configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Virtualisation Management Administer and optimise the Hyper-V virtualisation platform by managing virtual machines across Windows and Linux, ensuring performance and capacity meet business needs.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery Manage and monitor Veeam backup and recovery systems for On-prem and M365, ensuring data integrity and supporting disaster recovery planning.
  • Automation and Process Improvement Automate administrative tasks and reporting using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API, while driving improvements in system efficiency, security, and reliability.
  • Technical Support & Documentation Provide Level 2/3 support for complex infrastructure issues and maintain detailed technical documentation for systems and procedures.
  • Software Administration for SaaS Solutions Approve and deploy business applications using Privilege Manager, InTune, and SCCM, while ensuring vendor compliance through Snow Atlas monitoring.

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in collaboratively with a team and will be self-motivated to achieve results. You will also be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field;
  • Experience in a Systems Engineer role within a hybrid infrastructure environment ideally in the resources sector;
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Azure/Entra, SCCM/Intune;
  • Hands-on expertise with Hyper-V and Dell EMC servers;
  • Sound understanding of Pure Storage and Active-Active clustering;
  • Proven ability to manage large enterprise infrastructure environments;
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Azure Administrator);
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities; and
  • National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
