Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.


Roster: 4D/3R - FIFO ex Perth


We are seeking a dedicated Structural Specialist to join our Fixed Plant team at Christmas Creek. In this crucial role, you’ll act as the bridge between Engineering, Execution and Compliance, ensuring structural work is carried out to the highest quality and in line with Australian standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong structural or construction background who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Liaise with structural engineers and planners to interpret and clarify scope of works.
  • Assist in the development of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Records (ITRs) to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Work with weld inspectors to ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and ensure full compliance and closeout.
  • Support blast and paint quality control processes and assist in creating relevant documentation.
  • Assist the execution team with documentation compliance, ensure MDR reports are 100% compliant.
  • Support the development of Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) and Work Instructions (WIs) for scoped tasks.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure materials meet AS/NZS specifications.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Experience in fixed plant maintenance or construction.
  • Exposure to blasting and painting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge around inspections and testing documentation, required for structural steelwork fabrication and erection (ITP, ITR, WPS, material certificates, consumable certificates, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022 and other relevant safety standards corresponding to structural steelwork fabrication and erection.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with SAP highly desirable.
  • Project management experience desirable.
