About the Role:
Reporting to: Financial Controller – Operations & Projects
Employment Type: 12-Month Fixed Term, Full-Time (with potential for extension)
Work Location: Melbourne

As Credit Manager , you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of receivables for CMA CGM Group carriers across the Oceania Agencies. This includes oversight of freight, sundry charges, detention and demurrage transactions, and managing both cash and credit clients.

The role and responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement credit control policies, assess customer creditworthiness, conduct credit checks, and set credit limits based on payment history.

Monitor accounts receivable aging, initiate collection actions for overdue payments, and handle escalated customer disputes related to payments or credit terms.

Supervise and support credit control and SSC teams, ensure adequate training, monitor individual and team performance, and identify resource requirements.

Collaborate with sales and finance teams to evaluate credit risks, ensure accurate recording of collections and adjustments, and address credit-related concerns.

Prepare and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly reports on receivables performance, DSO, bad debt ratio, and trends in payment behaviour.

Maintain communication with customers to resolve payment issues, negotiate payment plans, and liaise with external agencies when necessary.

Continuously improve credit control processes, adopt automation tools for efficiency, and stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
5–7 years of experience in credit management, account management, or customer relationship management is essential.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.

Strong background in managing customer relationships and accounts, with prior team management experience.

Previous experience in the shipping industry is preferred.

Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Professional, honest, persistent, and committed to maintaining strong customer relationships.

Applicants must also hold full work rights in Australia, with a valid visa that covers the entire duration of the 12-month fixed-term contract.
