Lead safety, health and environmental excellence for a leading Australian food manufacturer
Join Sugar Australia as a Site EHS Manager at our manufacturing site in Yarraville, VIC. This is a permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced and hands-on EHS professional looking to lead site safety initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and build capability across operations.
Reporting to the Head of EHS, you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance, embedding a strong safety culture, and supporting operational teams to manage EHS risks. You'll lead the implementation of EHS systems and plans, coach teams on best practice, and coordinate return-to-work processes for injured workers - all while aligning with our national and group EHS frameworks.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working closely with people, translating EHS strategy into action, and making a meaningful impact every day.

As our EHS Manager, you'll be the go-to safety expert at the Yarraville VIC site - managing systems, driving engagement, and supporting our leaders to create a safe and compliant working environment. From legal reporting to continuous improvement initiatives, this is a role where no two days are the same.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading the implementation of EHS plans and the EHS Management System at site level in alignment with the National and Wilmar EHS systems and plans
- Driving a proactive safety culture through coaching, behavioural safety programs, and capability-building
- Managing compliance with EHS legislation and reporting obligations, including audits, notifiable events, and regulator engagement
- Coordinating incident investigations, root cause analysis, and injury management processes
- Acting as the site's Rehabilitation and Return-to-Work Coordinator, including liaising with internal teams, insurance providers, and medical professionals
- Overseeing chemical management systems, risk registers, and environmental inspections
- Preparing regular reports, analysing EHS data, and identifying emerging trends and improvement opportunities
- Facilitating EHS committee meetings, site safety walks, and monthly KPI reporting
- Developing and delivering high-risk work training to site
- Supporting change initiatives and identifying opportunities to streamline EHS processes
- Developing 3-year EHS strategies in alignment with business plans
You're a confident communicator, a practical problem-solver, and a passionate advocate for safe and sustainable operations. You enjoy influencing across different levels and thrive in a role where you can lead both systems and people.
- Tertiary qualification in Safety, Environment, or a related STEM or manufacturing discipline
- Certification or membership with AIHS/AIOH is an advantage
- 5+ years' experience in safety roles with practical experience preferably in manufacturing or operational environments
- Demonstrated experience in Safety and Environmental management, and strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, risk management, and compliance auditing
- Proven ability to implement and manage EHS Management Systems and tools using online technology and software platforms
- Project management experience and ability to manage stakeholders and resources effectively
- Experience coordinating RTW and injury management programs
- Training in ICAM or equivalent incident investigation methodologies (desirable)
- Strong coaching, facilitation, change management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational skills, systems knowledge, and a continuous improvement mindset
