Your New Role

The Business Actuary is a role that has a member focus, requiring a high level of modelling and commercial analyses and the ability to clearly articulate complex results to stakeholders to assist with making informed decisions that impact the strategic direction of the Fund. The role is part of the Actuarial Consulting team reporting to the Senior Manager, Forecasting and will primarily involve supporting the detailed work on the forecasting of the Fund's membership by using various well-developed analytical techniques to analyse key business drivers.

This is a 12 month contract.

Some of your duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Support the membership forecasting modelling and analysis (at least quarterly, more frequently in response to unanticipated market events, Federal Budget announcements and Strategy reviews

  • Create reports and papers, e.g. ExCo, Board and Senior Management

  • Assist with target setting and monitoring, and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders on the impact of these

  • Support any pricing analysis work as required by the Product team

  • Supporting the Retirement team with cameo analysis and other retirement strategy modelling

What You'll Need

  • Professional Actuarial Qualification

  • Tertiary qualification in a finance, statistical, actuarial or business-related discipline.

  • Extensive, proven experience in advanced financial, statistical and other business-related quantitative analyses

  • Experience in modelling, data analysis and forecasting

  • Demonstrated success in presentation of information and data with valuable insights including ability to create executive-ready presentations and reports

  • Experience with internal and external stakeholder engagement

  • Well-developed ability to identify when data and analysis is materially incorrect and obtain solutions
