Job Description:
Epiq, Australia's premium supplier of transcription services, has offices across Australia providing court reporting, e-discovery, e-trials, and transcription services for government agencies, law firms and private clients.
We are seeking a court monitor to work on-site across our Melbourne offices to produce high-quality recordings and annotations of court proceedings for our major contracts.
This is a 6-month contract with potential to extend.
You do not need experience within the legal industry or legal education to be successful in this role, so if you are looking for an industry change then this may be the role for you.
Applicants with administrative or technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The Role
Monitors are responsible for recording proceedings and producing an annotation or log of
those proceedings to aid in the process of accurate transcription. Proceedings may take
place on site in courtrooms or at client premises, or may be recorded from an Epiq office.

The Role

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Produce high quality audio recordings of hearings
- Input and manage integrity of data in various databases
- Produce accurate and detailed annotations of hearings to aid transcription
- Liaise with court staff and key stakeholders
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities
- Candidates who are willing to work on-site from our Melbourne offices, as well as travel to regional locations for recording proceedings when required.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and set up heavy equipment.
- Availability of Monday – Friday (2-5 days/week), with willingness to work outside of standard business hours when required.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Must be willing to undertake a security clearance.
- Current driver’s licence and vehicle desirable but not required.
- Administration experience desirable.
- Technical experience in sound production or recording desirable.
