We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to fill this full-time position based at RMH – city campus. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dual role within Pathology and the Snow Centre for Immune Health (SCIH). The SCIH is a collaboration between the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI) for Medical Research to advance diagnosis and treatment of immune disorders.

The successful applicant will join a team of Research Support Scientists within the Pathology service at RMH. They will report to the Research Support Coordinator and SCIH Program leaders.The main duties of this role are to process and manage research specimens, record study participant information, train staff in the use of the SCIH laboratory information system and other duties as required.

You Will

• Adhere to laboratory protocols at all times
• Plan and complete tasks based on workload and urgency
  
  

About You

• Enthusiastic person with Bachelor degree in Science or in Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), or equivalent qualification
• Experienced in a pathology laboratory or research laboratory
• Able to prioritise workloads and to complete multiple and varied tasks on strict timelines
• Experienced in processing samples, including collection of pbmcs and cell counts
• Excellent attention to detail
• High level computer skills
• Demonstrated skills in communication and problem solving
• Ability to work independently
• Experienced using Pathology laboratory information systems
• Experienced using Quality management Systems
• Familiarity with redcap, Open Specimen, EPIC or other information systems
