About The Role

As a Senior Project Manager at Tyro, you will lead and oversee Tyro’s most critical and complex projects, driving strategic initiatives from inception through to successful delivery.

This role operates within the centralised Transformation function and requires advanced expertise in project management, stakeholder leadership, and organisational influence to ensure projects deliver significant business value.

You will also mentor project managers and contribute to the continuous improvement of Tyro’s project delivery capabilities and frameworks.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of comprehensive project plans for complex, cross-functional initiatives, clearly defining scope, milestones, budget, resource allocation, risk mitigation, and success criteria.
  • Drive alignment across multiple business units to ensure the impacts and dependencies of projects are fully understood and managed in the Project Plan.
  • Serve as a key advocate of the Tyro Delivery Framework (TDF), ensuring best practices and governance are consistently applied throughout the project lifecycle, from post-discovery through organisational readiness, execution, and handover.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve project dependencies and risks by collaborating closely with senior stakeholders and departmental leaders.
  • Own and maintain accountability for the successful delivery of key Projects, including scope, schedule, and budget adherence; regularly report progress and risks to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead and facilitate high-level project governance meetings, steering committees, and status reviews, ensuring clear communication of project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyse metrics to evaluate project health and ensure alignment with Tyro’s governance frameworks and strategic business goals.
  • Clearly articulate the strategic value and business impact of projects to executive sponsors, stakeholders, and broader organisational teams.
  • Manage project risk and issue registers proactively, anticipating potential challenges and driving effective mitigations.
  • Lead retrospectives and lessons-learned sessions on completed projects to promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the Transformation Team.
  • Mentor project managers and team members, fostering professional development and elevating project delivery standards across the team.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Tyro’s project and portfolio management practices, tools, and methodologies, promoting innovation and efficiency.

What You'll Bring

  • At least 8 years experience in project management within a fast paced technology/SaaS company or management consultancy. (Payments industry experience is desirable)
  • A proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • A deep understanding and hands-on experience with project management methodologies, frameworks, and governance models.
  • Significant experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, business units, and external vendors.
  • Experience in leading steering committees and high-level governance meetings, ensuring strong decision-making and alignment.
  • Experience in driving strategic initiatives across multiple business functions, ensuring alignment with broader organisational goals.
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and analysing project metrics to evaluate health and alignment with business goals and governance frameworks.
  • Experience leading retrospectives and lessons-learned sessions to continuously improve project management practices.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems.
