Our Company

PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company with operations in Laos, and pre-development assets in Papua New Guinea and Chile.

In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust’s two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

In Papua New Guinea, PanAust holds a 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Limited Copper-Gold project, which is a transformative pre-development integrated mining, renewable energy and infrastructure project.

In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.


The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our team, based in our Corporate Head Office in Fortitude Valley’s James Street precinct. The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in leading the financial modelling and valuation tasks for the Group to facilitate value-based investment decisions and provide market insights to support strategic direction and market analysis.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leads the financial modelling, valuation and analysis for investments through collaboration within key parts of the PanAust Group (Technical Services, Finance, Operations etc). These investments include all growth opportunities, and other capital projects.
  • Conducts valuation activities, applies methodologies consistently and provides insight into the financial robustness of the investment alternatives to optimise the Company’s portfolio value.
  • Coordinates, updates and manages all financial models across the Group, this includes models for life of mine, development projects, investments/divestments and capital projects.
  • Provides comprehensive data-driven analysis and outputs to assist with making strategic and financial decisions for the company.
  • Leads the economic analysis and modelling for development projects progressing through the development phases of concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, development and operations.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial objectives and assumptions.


To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who have:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in finance, engineering, economics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience with economic and financial modelling and investment portfolio management.
  • Experience in investment banking is highly desirable.
  • Experienced with all growth opportunities, including capital projects.
  • Extensive experience in the development of the inputs and economic evaluation of projects.
  • Proficient user of MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

This is a Brisbane-based role and will require relocation for interstate candidates who are successful for the position. A relocation package will be available to the successful candidate requiring relocation.
