Job Description

At People First Bank, we’re more than just a financial institution - we’re a values-driven organisation committed to making a meaningful impact. Built around people, we place trust, integrity, and purpose at the heart of everything we do.

We’re excited to invite applications for a newly established Line 2 position: Senior Leader, Enterprise Risk. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly experienced and close-knit team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our enterprise risk strategies and driving a strong, values-led risk culture across the organisation.

In this strategic role, you’ll provide insightful, forward-thinking guidance to senior leaders, ensuring our risk approach aligns with both purpose and performance.

You’ll also benefit from genuine flexibility through hybrid work arrangements, all within a purpose-driven environment that lives its values every day.

About The Role

In this influential leadership position, you’ll play a critical role in the development and maintenance of the:

  • Risk Culture Framework to promote a strong risk culture across the organisation. This includes conducting training sessions, assessing risk culture effectiveness, providing guidance to business units and championing a culture where risk awareness, capability, and continuous improvement are part of everyday practice.
  • Risk Management Strategy / Enterprise Risk Management Framework, ensuring it evolves in line with both regulatory requirements and our strategic ambitions. You will lead maturity assessments and develop strategies to enhance risk management capabilities.
  • Risk Appetite Framework by defining risk appetite statements and tolerance indicators and monitoring the bank's risk profile. You will deliver insights and direction to help guide balanced risk-taking that supports sound decision-making and sustainable growth.
  • Risk Governance and Accountability Model and the effective implementation of the Three Lines Model to define clear roles and responsibilities, enhancing ownership and transparency across the organisation.

About You

A confident communicator and trusted advisor, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and the Board, providing high-quality insights, reporting, and assurance.

To succeed in this role, you must have over five years of experience in developing and maintaining enterprise risk management and risk culture frameworks, with deep knowledge of the financial services industry and APRA’s Prudential Standards. Your expertise in contemporary risk management practices, trends, and risk governance, along with strong skills in process improvement, change implementation, and problem-solving, will be essential. You’re independent, self-motivated, and highly driven, with high attention to detail and a commitment to driving projects to completion.

If you're passionate about driving a positive risk culture, uplifting risk maturity and want to be part of a team committed to doing the right thing - for customers, communities, and each other - we’d love to hear from you.
