We have an opportunity for a Senior Project Origination and Development Manager in our Energy Storage Team to take the driver’s seat and provide leadership for the origination and management of a portfolio of BESS development projects, from early assessment up until commercial close and handover to delivery.
This opportunity has become available and will contribute to the once-in-a-lifetime energy transition by delivering key BESS projects.
You will be an instrumental part of the coordination of a broad and multidisciplinary team of high performing professionals in ensuring opportunities are converted into investments and the risks associated with design, construction and ongoing operations and maintenance are understood and managed.
This role is based in Southbank and is part of the Energy Storage Team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Leadership of the Key Projects and all Project Origination for new battery projects.
- Management of Project Development Managers and/or Assistant Project Development Managers within the team
- Project Management of some projects directly within the portfolio
- Development of a portfolio of BESS projects including scopes, specifications, schedules, capex & opex profiles, delivery methodology, O&M strategy, etc., to deliver optimum commercial outcomes
- The delivery of BESS projects within allocated budgets in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, involving managing project teams of multidisciplinary internal and external resources
- Development of project execution plans including timelines, costs, risk assessments, communication of project financials, and progress reports in a consistent manner across the assigned projects
- Provide leadership in developing sound relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Manage, track, and report on the progress of assigned projects through to financial close and the execution of contracts with clients
- Management of on-foot contracts and current or potential contractors, requisitions, orders, and invoices associated with projects
You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
- A tertiary qualification (or equivalent certification) in Project Management, Business Management or Engineering
- Corporate or Business Strategy development and delivery experience
- Experience in project management in energy storage, major projects, renewables, or a similar utilities/energy industry
- Experience in a leadership/senior project management role, leading project teams of internal and external stakeholders and direct and indirect project resources
- Commercial acumen to understand commercial impacts on the business and work with/support Commercial teams to achieve commercial growth goals
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to engage, motivate, influence, and drive outcomes from stakeholders at all levels
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven experience in energy storage programs of work
