We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
About The Role
We are currently seeking a Specialist Family Violence Therapeutic Practitioner to join our compassionate and expert team. In this deeply meaningful role, you will provide therapeutic counselling, group work, and integrated support to victim-survivors—both in our refuges and through outreach services.

This is a part-time, maximum term position (12 months) based in Southern Tasmania, working 30.4 hours per fortnight. The salary is aligned with SCHADS Level 5.

How You Will Make An Impact
- Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic support, including counselling, group work and short-term interventions
- Conduct robust assessments using formal and informal tools
- Support women and children with tailored, goal-oriented therapeutic case plans
- Collaborate with Family Violence Case Managers to ensure holistic, wrap-around care
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic group programs to support healing and connection
- Advocate for victim-survivors, empowering them to access broader support systems
- Ensure thorough documentation and contribute to ongoing service improvement
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling (essential), with relevant registration
- Experience working with victim-survivors of family violence or child wellbeing concerns (highly desirable)
- Working with children check (WWVP – TAS)
- Current TAS Drivers Licence
- Strong background in trauma-informed practice and therapeutic interventions
- Confidence in both individual counselling and group facilitation
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-centred environment
- Advanced skills in case documentation, assessment, and data systems
