The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live in and travel through remote, rural and regional Australia.
We are offering you an exciting senior leadership opportunity to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) as the Head of Aviation Operations & Service Delivery.
We are seeking an energetic leader with a continuous improvement mindset who has capability and drive to work across organisational boundaries and deliver transformative business outcomes.
The Role
You will be a key member of the Aviation & Operations team and will work with the Executive General Manager – Aviation and Operations to execute the organisational service delivery outcomes defined in our Business Strategy. You will also work closely with the Executive General Manager Health and Clinical Services and relevant health leaders to facilitate effective health services across our operational footprint.
Your core responsibility is the management of RFDSSE day-to-day operations conducted from our bases to ensure the effective delivery of health care services across our various service portfolios. This includes responsibility for aviation operations and supporting broader health performance targets through close collaboration, management and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams and assets across a wide geographic footprint.
As a senior leader in our business, you will consistently role model our values and leadership behaviours, be agile and high energy, have a management systems and continuous improvement mindset, and have a passion for delivering outstanding service to our clients and the communities we serve. You will have a strategic mindset but also have the ability to ‘roll sleeves up and dive in’.
You will lead efforts to strengthen and align organisational culture, fostering a values-led and high-performance environment across our geographically dispersed workforce.
Success in this role requires a collaborative approach to engaging internal stakeholders such as Health, Maintenance, Flight Operations, and Corporate Services, as well as external partners including health departments, emergency services, and contracted providers.

- Experience leading geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary teams.
