The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director, Legal to join our high-performing Legal team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will provide high-quality legal advice and services across the organisation's investment, operations, and business activities. This role has a particular focus on structured investment transactions, fund investments, co-investments, joint ventures, direct investments, restructures and disposals across a range of both private and public asset classes.
You will play a key role in managing legal risk, ensuring compliance and protecting the organisation's rights. This is a senior leadership opportunity with exposure to strategic initiatives and cross-agency collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
As Director, Legal, you will provide timely, commercial legal advice and support across a broad range of investment and operational matters. You will lead the legal aspects of public and private market investment transactions, including negotiation and documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. You will work closely with the General Counsel and Head of Legal to manage legal and reputational risks, contribute to internal training and policy development, and monitor regulatory developments. You will also support continuous improvement of the Legal function through precedent and guideline development. In addition to managing relationships with external counsel and internal stakeholders, you will mentor and develop direct reports, delegate effectively, and foster a collaborative team culture. You will contribute to strategic projects, represent the Legal team across the organisation, and provide legal support on non-investment commercial arrangements as required.
About You
You are admitted to legal practice in Victoria or another Australian state and are eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate. You bring 9+ years of post-qualification experience, with significant investment transaction exposure in a major law firm and/or in-house legal team.
You are a confident leader with excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and risk management skills. You have a strategic mindset, strong commercial judgement, and a partnership approach to stakeholder engagement. You invest in others, delegate effectively, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
