The Engineering Manager & Mechanical Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing multidisciplinary engineering delivery across studies and projects (EPC/EPCM), with a specialized focus on Mechanical Engineering. This role combines strategic project management, client engagement, and business development with deep technical expertise in mechanical systems, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance in all engineering activities.

The primarily focus of this role is to

  • Lead engineering delivery across studies and projects, ensuring multidisciplinary integration and collaboration
  • Manage client relationships, business development, and proposal preparation, acting as a trusted advisor in both general engineering and mechanical-specific scopes
  • Oversee project KPIs, budgets, schedules, and risk management, driving innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical assurance and design management for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and quality assurance protocols
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, with a focus on mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and capability growth
  • Support digital delivery initiatives and integration of global integrated delivery (GID) teams, leveraging technology for efficient project execution
  • Interface with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication across disciplines


Key Responsibilities Include (but not limited to)

  • Lead the development of engineering strategy and win plans, working closely with sales and operations throughout the sales process
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor across the resources sector
  • Provide oversight and assurance for project delivery, ensuring adherence to established standards and methodologies, including EPC and EPCM delivery methodologies
  • Direct the success of projects through the achievement of project objectives and KPIs. Support studies and delivery phases of projects from our clients in the engineering sector. Manage and coordinate studies, engineering, design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, quality, health and safety, finance, and administration, and cost and schedule activities.
  • Engineering Deliverables and Design Management - you will engage in hands-on project and design management, contributing to the engineering deliverable management for bids, proposal responses, and project delivery for the Resources Hub. You will oversee engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to project requirements.
  • Lead resourcing and manage a wide range of professional disciplines and subcontractors, including GID resources. Promote the integration of Global Integrated Delivery (GID) for effective project delivery.

Here's what you'll need

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree and demonstrated professional experience predominantly within the Mining Resources Sector.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven breadth of expertise in Mechanical Engineering with the ability to independently use advanced theoretical knowledge of engineering principles to analyse, interpret, and conclude on complex matters or decisions.
  • Robust knowledge of international and local engineering methods, applicable codes and specifications associated with resources projects.
  • Solid knowledge of planning, study, detailed design, commissioning and close out resources and and/or new energy projects, with sound knowledge of current design standards
  • Familiar with the delivery methodology including initiation, development and delivery phases, the specific requirements and levels of accuracy as well as design maturity required at each delivery gate for resources and/or new energy clients.
  • Experience in delivering EPC and/or EPCM projects held in high regard.
  • A strategic and innovative mindset coupled with the ability to solve complex problems, using strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
