About The Opportunity
Austal and the Commonwealth of Australia are currently negotiating a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) that will support the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise and the delivery of multiple new defence force shipbuilding projects, such as Landing Craft-Medium and Landing Craft-Heavy for the Australian Army.
Once signed, the SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce, as we deliver both existing and new programs under a long-term partnership. It will also enable the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson shipyard and marks a major step forward in establishing enduring shipbuilding capability within the Henderson Defence Precinct and across Western Australia.
To achieve this, we are building a highly skilled team, to engage with local industry and supply chains, and work on complex, large-scale projects that reflect Austal’s proven capabilities and trusted performance.
Austal is seeking a skilled Solution Architect to lead the design and management of digital technology solutions that address complex business challenges. Reporting to the Digital Services Manager, this role is central to translating business needs into technical requirements and creating blueprints for digital solutions under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA).
Focused on Austal’s Defence digital architecture, the Solution Architect will guide development and integration efforts, ensuring alignment with corporate systems and strategic goals. What’s Involved
- Designing detailed technical solutions that support and achieve defined project goals.
- Ensuring individual software projects are aligned with overall business strategy and adhere to established technology standards.
- Collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful solution delivery.
- Implementing cybersecurity controls within the broader solution architecture to ensure compliance and protect digital assets.
- Bachelors degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Technology or working towards
- 10+ years experience designing and implementing enterprise ICT architectures
- In dept knowledge of solution architecture concepts, including solution integration, data quality, and data integration
- Understanding of cloud solution delivery from Cloud Service Providers such as Azure
- Cloud Certification such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect is highly desirable
