About the role:

The Manager Media and Communications represents Lotterywest as the official spokesperson and is responsible for developing and implementing communications, public relations (PR), media advice and communication plans to drive Lotterywest brand awareness. This position supports the Senior Manager Media and Communications to provide advice to the CEO and senior executives in relation to the media. Additionally, the position plays a lead role in the development and implementation of successful media strategies and plans, and management of contentious issues.

The key focus areas are:

  • Official spokesperson duties, including participating in TV and radio interviews and preparing Executive for media opportunities
  • Strategic PR and communications planning and implementation
  • Media liaison
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Contentious issues and risk management
  • Evaluation and reporting to support continuous improvement
  • Team management and leadership.


What we're looking for:

  • You are a media savvy individual and bring considerable experience in public relations, media and communications
  • You demonstrate experience in creating high quality content for a variety of channels, including writing, video and photography skills
  • You demonstrate excellent media management skills with the ability to navigate and consider contentious issues when developing communications
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages to promote brand awareness
  • You have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • You work well under pressure and have well-developed planning and organisational skills including effective time management and managing multiple deadlines
  • You demonstrate key leadership capabilities and have successfully led, managed and coached direct reports.
