Senior Product Manager - Monetisation

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and evolve our monetisation strategy, focusing on advertising and transactional monetisation opportunities embedded in the user journey. This role sits at the intersection of product, commercial, and platform experience—crafting sustainable monetisation strategies that are both user-aligned and revenue-generating.
You'll report directly to the Director of Product, Ad Tech, and work closely with engineering, design, analytics, and commercial partners to build monetisation systems that scale—without compromising user trust.
What you’ll do- Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for monetisation and advertising, across Rome2Rio’s web and mobile platforms
- Integrate ads, partner placements, and other commercial offers directly into the user’s trip planning and booking journey
- Partner with sales and commercial teams to develop inventory and targeting strategies aligned with advertiser goals and user context
- Work with data and experimentation teams to test monetisation hypotheses, measure performance, and optimise yield
- Ensure ad experiences feel intuitive, relevant, and minimally disruptive, delivering value to both users and partners
- Champion technical integration and platform readiness, working with Ad Tech engineering to build scalable systems
- Collaborate with analytics and finance to monitor impact on revenue and margins, identifying opportunities to improve LTV
- Align with the broader product organisation to balance monetisation with long-term product quality and retention
- Proven experience in a B2C product management role—preferably in travel, marketplaces, or consumer platforms with real-world utility
- Strong background in ad tech or monetisation, including programmatic, native, or performance advertising
- Understanding of how monetisation intersects with user experience, especially across transactional journeys
- Experience building and optimising MVPs and monetisation experiments using data to iterate at pace
- Ability to synthesise commercial and technical considerations, bridging sales goals with product strategy
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills, including with stakeholders in engineering, sales, and operations
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across teams without relying on hierarchy
- Familiarity with ad servers, SSPs, and programmatic ecosystems
- Experience monetising travel, mapping, or ticketing platforms
- Exposure to machine learning, AI, or recommendation systems applied to monetisation or relevance
- Understanding of internationalisation and localisation in monetised environments
- Prior experience working in a platform team or shared monetisation layer
