About the role:

The Category Lead will develop and execute global sourcing strategies for commodity categories to identify savings and add value. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess supply risks, support programs, and find new suppliers, negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to meet performance and savings goals. The role will also serve as the primary contact for all category-related activities, leveraging deep market knowledge to drive innovation and performance.


Day to day responsibilities:

  • Oversee development and execution of category plans, identifying savings, efficiencies, and supplier diversity
  • Collaborate with global and local stakeholders to align procurement requirements and leverage global agreements
  • Manage source-to-contract and source-to-purchase order processes, including contract and purchase order reviews
  • Maintain procurement data and internal tracking systems accurately
  • Liaise professionally with external suppliers and internal teams, including Legal for terms and conditions
  • Monitor price trends and support evaluation of procurement opportunities
  • Provide procurement advice, guidance, and support to stakeholders and team members
  • Lead procurement activities beyond main categories as needed
  • Participate in customer meetings and contribute to program and business improvement initiatives
  • Support induction and training of new personnel


About you:

  • Strong background in leading procurement activities, including negotiating terms and conditions
  • Proven ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled in analysing complex reports and using material management systems
  • Proficient in MS Office and relevant software applications
  • Experienced in mentoring, training, and providing technical guidance to team members


Special Requirements:

This position can be based in Melbourne VIC or Adelaide SA.
