Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile: The Legal and Legislative Services team at the Department of Health is an energetic and multidisciplinary team of solicitors, legislative officers and administrators. We are proud to provide legal and legislative advice across a wide range of sensitive and high-profile matters across the Health portfolio, making a real difference to the health and wellbeing of Western Australians.
The Department is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Principal Legislative Advisor to join our dedicated team. As a member of Legal and Legislative Services, you will be part of the cutting edge of law, effecting positive change within the community with a direct and immediate impact. Our work is multifaceted, sensitive and high profile, providing legislative support to health policy matters. Along with managing Health responses to Parliament, you will provide high-level guidance and oversight to deliver the Ministerial legislative agenda covering a broad range of areas such as assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy, abortion care, human tissue matters, use and regulation of medicines and poisons and a suite of public health matters.
As a senior member of the Legal and Legislative Services team, you will be expected to provide leadership and exemplify integrity in all situations, in addition to applying your extensive legislative and management skills and experience in managing direct reports.
