Operating within a professional and collaborative project office, this team has a strong culture of accountability, flexibility, and outcome delivery. They are seeking an experienced Contracts and Finance Officer to join their Newcastle-based office and provide crucial financial oversight and reporting across their portfolio.
Contracts and Finance Officer | $500-$650 + Super | Newcastle-Based | 9-Month Contract
- Support major infrastructure projects across cost performance & financial controls
- Government contract - large-scale budgeting, forecasting, accruals & claims
- Collaborative, high-performing project team | ASAP start | CBD-adjacent location
Working within the program's central finance and contracts function, you will ensure accuracy and compliance across project forecasting, reporting, and payments. Your duties will include: - Supporting the Cost Controller to implement systems for tracking and reporting on actual and forecast costs
- Managing project financial deliverables including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and cashflow
- Providing insights and analysis on financial performance against the budget and identifying risks
- Preparing and maintaining key project financial documentation including forecasts, reporting packs, and submissions
- Assisting the Contracts Manager with supplier payment processes and ensuring compliance with policies
- Collaborating across Finance and Project streams to ensure alignment and effective delivery
- Ensuring all financial documentation is consistent with broader government and program standards
- Contributing to the uplift of internal processes and templates for long-term improvement
ABOUT YOU - Degree-qualified in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA not essential but highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience supporting finance functions in major infrastructure or capital projects
- Proven track record in project budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and reporting
- Strong technical capabilities in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
- Familiarity with supplier payment processes and procurement/contractual compliance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills - ability to work cross-functionally
- Detail-oriented and organised with the ability to manage tight timeframes and changing priorities
