About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is looking for a Specialist Plant Operator - Construction Grader in the Operations team.

Required

In this role you will primarily operate a Grader for the construction and maintenance of Council's road infrastructure. You may be required to undertake a variety of other activities associated with civil construction, including but not limited to:

  • Supervise site work and lead teams as required
  • Operating other mobile plant within the scope of training and capability
  • Assist with the setting out of works and site preparation
  • Traffic control

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills and will have the opportunity to work throughout the Shire. The role will allow you a level of autonomy, however day to day directions will be directed by the Works Supervisors.

About You

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence
  • SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of mobile plant including, but not limited to Grader operation
  • Relevant experience in construction grading and supervising a work team

It will be highly favourable if you possess any of the following:

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • Traffic Control Qualifications: Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control plans
  • Competency certification in the operation of a Grader
  • Other Plant Operation certificates
  • Current First Aid Certificate

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.

This role is classified as Grade 9 with a salary range of $34.12 to $39.23 per hour, equating to a starting annual salary of approximately $67,412.02 depending on qualifications and experience.
