What you’ll do
The Price & Promo Manager for Play, Clothing & Home leads the development and execution of critical commercial strategies across a $3bn+ portfolio of categories within Big W. This high-impact role demands a deep understanding of market dynamics and competitor strategies, leveraging data-driven insights to shape pricing and promotional frameworks that ensure trusted customer value and drive business growth. You will be instrumental in advancing our data-led ambition, translating complex data into actionable strategic insights and fostering enhanced promotional effectiveness.
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of pricing frameworks across Home, Play & Clothing, leveraging deep competitor insights and advanced analytics to drive strategic decision-making and cross-functional alignment.
- Partner closely with business leads to achieve commercial objectives, ensuring robust promotional execution while providing strategic recommendations to optimize profitability and long-term growth.
- Ensure trusted customer value through real-time market intelligence and in-depth competitor strategy analysis, shaping dynamic pricing approaches.
- Contribute significantly to our overall commercial strategy and data-led ambition by enhancing and automating data insights, and optimizing category range health through strategic analysis.
- Elevate promotional effectiveness through rigorous performance insights, strategically challenging funding allocations, and refining planning processes to maximize ROI.
- Lead pricing intelligence capability and develop a deep understanding of competitor pricing strategies, whilst improving pricing indexes and product matching accuracy.
- Conduct strategic reviews of customer plans and upcoming promotions, offering data-backed suggestions and improvements to enhance promotional effectiveness and market impact.
- Streamline the promotional planning process by integrating consistent, strategic insights directly into the promotional slotting phase.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing operational processes, refining reporting methodologies, and strengthening strategic insight generation capabilities.
- Develop critical influencing and strategic leadership skills to cultivate trusted partnerships across Big W, driving alignment on key commercial initiatives.
- 3-6 years of commercial experience, ideally with a strong foundation in strategy consulting or a proven track record in a strategic commercial role within Retail (e.g., Buying, Pricing, Category Management, or an advanced analytics function).
- Demonstrated experience in business transformation or driving strategic change initiatives is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical acumen and the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, compelling strategic presentations.
