Head of Land Development
Tilt Renewables

Role Overview:
This role will lead and manage Tilt Renewables’ land development function, ensuring the successful identification, acquisition, and management of land for renewable energy projects, while leveraging spatial data and technology to support strategic decision-making and project delivery.
The Head of Land Development will:
- Drive the direction and approach for engagement with our landholders
- Progress and report on agreements with landholders
- Ensure out landholder management system is kept up to date
- Work closely with the development team in new site and opportunity identification
This is a role that is central to the success of Tilt Renewables’ strategic ambitions. It is an opportunity to play a critical role within a leading Australian renewables business to help drive the energy transition in Australia.
Key Accountabilities
The key accountabilities may include (but are not limited to):
Strategic Land Development
- Identify and secure land for wind, solar, and battery projects.
- Oversee landowner engagement, lease negotiations, and permitting.
- Ensure compliance with planning, environmental, and regulatory frameworks.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage a team of land developers and consultants.
- Collaborate with development, engineering, legal, and community engagement teams.
- Represent Tilt Renewables in external forums, including government and industry bodies.
Reporting
- Ensure compliance with stakeholder engagement software (Borealis) to maintain accurate records of landowners and up to date spatial date
- Contribute to and support the development, implementation and maintenance of robust project management systems and documentation.
Financial Management:
- Projects are procured and the delivery of each is well managed within an agreed commercial framework. Detailed, robust reporting systems are in place.
Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance:
- Adherence to company policies with a strong focus on the environment, health and safety.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- 10+ years in land development or land access.
- Strong understanding of Australian land tenure, planning laws, and environmental regulations.
- Experience managing land access for infrastructure or energy projects.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
Desirable
- Experience in renewable energy (wind, solar, BESS).
- Knowledge of Indigenous land rights and cultural heritage processes.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Knowledge of GIS skills (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, spatial databases).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Surveying, or related field or equivalent
- GIS certification (e.g., GISP) or equivalent experience.
