The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team partners across the AIG organisation to inform strategic decision-making and to facilitate rational risk-taking that drives profitable growth. How You Will Create An Impact

This is a unique opportunity, where you will support the Chief Risk Officer with the advancement of AIG's risk, regulatory and governance programs, including Climate-Related Disclosures, Service Provider and Outsourcing Governance, Policy Wording Uplifts (Contracts of Insurance Act), Governance Risk and Compliance tool implementation and other key programs and initiatives across both New Zealand and Australia. We offer a hybrid work environment, and you can be based in either of our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Auckland offices. This is a high exposure role with a real opportunity to contribute directly to our team mission to help our business execute its strategic objectives safely.

Key Accountabilities Will Include (but Are Not Limited To)


  • Manage risk-related projects and change programs, ensuring effective planning, execution and alignment with risk appetite, regulatory requirements and strategic objectives.
  • Track and report on in-flight risk programs and initiatives for the wider ERM Pacific Team, monitoring performance and project health.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Financial Officer with the ongoing development and implementation of AIG’s Climate-Related Disclosures across the Pacific and ensure our statements remain relevant to stakeholder expectations and meet key statutory and external reporting requirements in both jurisdictions.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer by preparing committee and governance reporting, regulatory and industry submission material, internal communications, risk-related presentation and training materials.
  • Stay up to date with Australian and New Zealand regulatory changes that impact AIG’s risk management practices, coordinating cross-functional impact assessments and implementation plans with the wider ERM Pacific Team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed our AIG Risk Management Framework into our day-to-day operations.
  • Contribute to a highly engaged, motivated and collaborative working environment.
  • Learn and apply best practice from across the risk and sustainability industry.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

Given that this role has a diverse portfolio, we are open to applicants from a range of backgrounds – we are more interested in your demonstrated ability to provide leadership and coordination of change programs and enterprise-wide projects within a complex and dynamic environment.


  • Proven experience from previous roles in risk, governance, project management or actuarial (or a related field) – either in a technical or business support capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles, frameworks and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO31000, CPS 220, CPS 230, IPSA, etc.)
  • Proven experience in leading regulatory or risk transformation programs.
  • Project management capability with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, timelines and stakeholders.
  • Excellent motivation, independence, and self-organizational skills – including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage competing demands and to work under pressure within various constraints.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across business units.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, as well as across different time-zones and geographies.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • A passion for risk management and the strong willingness to make a unique impact.

The Following Would Be Advantageous


  • Experience working with a global general insurer in a matrix environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards, certifications, and reporting frameworks, such as the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards.
  • Prior experience or technical working knowledge of insurance risk, actuarial or general insurance products and services.
