Position Summary
This position is based in Capella Sydney and reports to the General Manager. The Director of Human Resources (DoHR) holds a key leadership position in overseeing and managing all aspects of the Human Resources Department. As a member of the Guidance Team (Executive Committee), the individual is to contribute a high level of human resource generalist knowledge and expertise for a designated property. The DoHR establishes and drives strategic decisions to continuously improve the Human Resources Business Plan, aligning it with property and brand strategies to achieve Best-In-Class business performance.
The Role
- Provide overall leadership and guidance by overseeing talent acquisition, employee career development, succession planning, retention programs, training and leadership development.
- Function as a strategic human capital business advisor to the senior management team
- Be an exemplary role model in inspiring team members through a strong demonstration of the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
- Develop initiatives, policies and programs to complement existing practices and create consistency across the organisation.
- Oversee benefit and compensation plans to ensure cost efficiencies and attractiveness to retain top talent.
- Identifying key drivers of colleague satisfaction and supporting managers in addressing issues with written plans and actions
- Implementation of Human Resources strategies and initiatives to support business objectives
- Supports the hotel’s focus on providing Capella excellence through training and assisting others to train people to provide exceptional service to the hotel’s external customers (guests)
- Ensure all local legislation compliance and integrity are upheld at all times.
Talent Profile
- Tertiary education in Hospitality or Human Resources related
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role at luxury hotels/resorts, preferably in a service-oriented company, with a mix of corporate and business unit roles.
- Familiar with a variety of HR and Hotel systems
- Proficient in budgeting and payroll
- Highly organised with excellent people skills
- Passionate about the hotel and hospitality sector
- Well-versed in the Hospitality Industry General Award.
- Familiar with Fair Work, WH&S, and Workers' Compensation.
- Must have valid existing work rights in Australia.
