Join Westpac’s Digital Consumer Finance Tech Team – React / Java Senior Engineer
Are you ready to work on high-impact digital solutions that shape the everyday banking experience for millions of Australians?
We're looking for a hands-on Engineer to join our Digital Consumer Finance technology team. In this role, you’ll design, build, test, and maintain modern systems that power Westpac’s customer-facing platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders, contribute to major transformation programs, and help shape the future of digital banking—all within a supportive and agile engineering culture.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and developing intuitive user interfaces using React.js
- Building and maintaining scalable microservices and APIs with Spring Boot
- Writing clean, modular, and maintainable code using modern JavaScript frameworks
- Implementing responsive, accessible front-end designs using reusable UI components
- Optimising performance across the application stack
- Working with stakeholders to translate business needs into elegant technical solutions
- Contributing to continuous integration and delivery using tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, Bamboo
Essential:
- Solid hands-on experience with React.js, Redux, Node.js
- Strong skills in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
- Proficiency in building RESTful APIs with Spring Boot
- Good understanding of application performance optimisation
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in agile teams
- A passion for automation and clean code
- Exposure to Kafka, Splunk, or AppDynamics
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
