About the Role

This role will see you ensuring a commercial focus with all external parties requiring connection to transmission network in Victoria, with a view to provide timely and effective network services from AusNet Services.


At AusNet, we’re a team of 1,500 employees who service over 1.5 million Victorians. We own and operate three regulated networks: electricity distribution, gas distribution and the state-wide electricity transmission network.

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this permanent Full-time role is based in Southbank, Melbourne, with ad hoc travel to site and is part of the VIC Transmission Connections Team.


A full Australian Drivers License (Car) is required.


This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Managing the negotiations of major load and market generation connections to AusNet’s transmission network in Victoria in accordance with the NERs, AusNet Services policies
  • Managing & responding to connection enquiries and applications from AEMO, DBs, generators and load customers and ensure that regulatory obligations are met.
  • Assisting in the development of strategies that enable successful negotiations of major load and market generation connections incorporating engineering innovation, new technologies and commercial solutions providing value add to projects for AusNet and customers.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with customers including but not limited to AEMO, DBs, generators and other major customers.
  • Preparation of high-quality business cases and obtaining approvals in accordance with company policies.
  • Engaging internal stakeholders and customers in development and finalisation of connection requests in accordance with company policies and processes.


You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Ability to manage the negotiations of major load and market generation connections
  • Undertake independent planning and completion of assigned tasks for developing business cases, approval papers, offer letters, agreements & contracts, variations & claims, etc. without detailed supervision
  • Ability to influence people to achieve required results
  • Extensive knowledge of NERs as it relates to Network connections
  • End to end project management experience from concept to commissioning and also going further to operations and maintenance.
  • Broad understanding of engineering design & delivery, finance, legal and governance
