Summary
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Laboratory/Sample Management Technician is responsible for receiving, logging, inventorying and labeling, samples as well as reagents and materials in compliance with laboratory standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance requirements. The role also involves pre-processing fresh samples, as well as supporting experiment preparation by managing solutions, consumables, and labels and handling inventory management.

The role also involves pre-processing fresh samples, as well as supporting experiment preparation by managing solutions, consumables, and labels and handling inventory management.
Responsibilities
- Receive, label, log, and store samples and reagents per SOPs and LIMS
- Ensure appropriate storage conditions and manage storage space across temperature ranges
- Maintain chain of custody and verify delivery/shipment conditions, reporting discrepancies
- Prepare shipments and execute/document sample destruction
- Support lab operations: sample preparation e.g., cell isolation from blood samples, cryopreservation, thawing and counting. Perform solution/reagent preparation
- Support equipment maintenance, inventory, and file archiving
- Perform tasks and maintain documentation as per appropriate SOP and applicable GLP regulations and GCLP guidelines
- Diploma in Laboratory Sciences
- 1 year experience in a laboratory an asset;
- Experience working in a biological safety cabinet under sterile conditions;
- Experience with PBMC (isolation by Ficoll or CPT, cryopreservation, thawing, counting with hemocytometer) an asset;
- Experience in a GLP/GCLP environment an asset;
- Organized and rigorous in the conduct of their work;
- Good record keeping skills and attention to detail;
- Dynamic and motivated
- 100% onsite;
- Fixed schedule of Tuesday to Saturday shift from 9:00AM to 17:00 PM;
- Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV
