The role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and implementation of G+T's enterprise data ecosystem. You’ll guide the firm’s data engineering strategy, with a particular focus on delivering scalable, secure solutions via our Azure Data Platform.
This role will lead data engineering initiatives across cross-functional teams, defining best practices and technical standards while collaborating with business stakeholders, software vendors, and strategic project teams. You'll be central in ensuring data platforms and pipelines meet enterprise architecture and governance requirements.
As our Senior Data Engineer, you will:
- Lead the design and development of cloud-native data solutions across the Azure stack. Provide architectural oversight for Azure platform components, including data modelling, metadata management, and analytics pipelines
- Define, implement, and maintain best practices and coding standards, including frameworks for metadata, CI/CD, monitoring, reconciliation, and environment management
- Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data pipelines and platform capabilities.
- Mentor and guide other engineers to uplift technical capability across the team.
- Take ownership of platform health, performance, and governance.
About you
You are a technically proficient and strategically minded data engineer with a passion for scalable, well-architected data solutions. With strong communication and leadership skills, you thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy mentoring others while building enterprise-grade data assets.
You will bring:
- Deep expertise across Azure data services and frameworks, including Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure SQL.
- The ability to translate complex data models into scalable, reusable platform components.
- Advanced programming skills in Python, Spark, and SQL within data-intensive environments.
- A track record of driving engineering standards, coding best practices, and platform governance.
- Experience working within DevOps and Agile delivery models, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
- A passion for shaping a firm-wide data ecosystem that empowers insights, innovation, and decision-making.
