Temple & Webster is Australia’s number one online retailer of furniture and homewares, with a vision to make the world more beautiful, one room at a time. To realise our vision we need a Transport Analyst to drive the operational and financial performance of our domestic transport network.
The Transport Analyst supports the Senior Manager, Transport to drive the operational and financial performance of our domestic transport (last mile, e-commerce) network. In this role, you’ll play a key part in reporting and generating actionable insights to support cost base management, transport procurement, and operational improvements.
You’ll use your expertise in transport and logistics operations and data analysis to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, carriers, Delivery SaaS firms and auditing partners) to optimise our supply chain.
Key responsibilities include auditing transport costs, interpreting rate card documents, investigating and resolving discrepancies, supporting procurement processes, and providing data-driven recommendations to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the network.
What we’re looking for
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Partner with external auditing firms to ensure 100% of transport costs are accurately reviewed and audited, including onboarding new suppliers
- Act as the in-house expert on interpreting carrier rate card documents, providing guidance and support across the business
- Lead investigations into transport cost discrepancies, seeing claims through from initiation to closure with carriers
- Identify and resolve gaps in the audit process, implementing effective solutions to strengthen governance and compliance
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to devise innovative strategies for managing and optimising transport cost bases
- Generate comprehensive reports and extract actionable insights on carrier performance to inform operational decision-making
- Develop a deep understanding of cost drivers within the transport network and analyse their correlation with network performance, exceptions, and issues
- Utilise data analysis skills to identify procurement opportunities and support the preparation and assessment of Requests for Proposal (RFP) and tenders for transport services
- Synthesise findings from procurement assessments into clear, actionable insights to support stakeholder decision-making
- Prepare and present analytical reports, using data-driven recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the supply chain
What you already have
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to identifying issues, risks, and developing recommendations
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or Tableau, and the ability to generate and interpret reports
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration and relationship building
- Experience in last-mile transport or e-commerce, or familiarity with transport management or purchase order systems (highly desirable)
- Ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, while remaining calm under pressure
- Demonstrated desire and ability to learn new systems and skills, both independently and through training
- Strong service orientation and a flexible, can-do attitude to meet customer and business needs in a rapidly changing environment
- Hands-on approach when required, supporting the team and business goals actively
