The Position
The Sterilising Technician contributes to the effectiveness of sterilisation services and is responsible for coordinating and collaborating the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.
This role provides support to our clinical team within our five (5) theatre complex which undertake a wide range of surgeries including: ENT, General, Plastic and Cosmetic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Urology and Vascular Surgery.

Key Selection Criteria
- Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Sterilising Services)
- Working knowledge of sterilisation and Infection Control standards with experience in the operation and monitoring of specialised equipment (e.g. Autoclaves, sterilisers)
- Ability to fulfil manual tasks and meet the physical job demands of the role
- Sound knowledge of surgical instruments, instrument care and their packing techniques
- Sound communication skills with the ability to follow instruction, work in a team environment or autonomously
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word and Explorer

It is a mandatory condition of employment that some roles within our hospital require you to be vaccinated, and remain vaccinated during your employment, against some or all of the following vaccine preventable diseases; Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping cough), and Hepatitis.
