Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Hotel Brisbane has just opened to guests this winter, offering 321 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. With over 1800 square metres of meeting and events spaces, InterContinental Brisbane offers versatile function rooms and a Grand Ballroom catering for up to 1000 guests, making it a great choice for business and leisure events alike.

We’re always looking for new ways to raise the bar. So, we’re searching for Casual Food & Beverage Attendants and Conference & Events Attendants to join our Food and Beverage team.

Please note that you will need to be available on Thursday, July 10th and/or Friday, July 11th for a short in-person interview onsite at the hotel.

Food & Beverage Attendant - Outlets (Casual)

Your day to day

  • Creating a warm welcome for every single guest that sets the tone for their experience with us
  • Knowing the InterContinental brand and being an advocate for our most loyal guests
  • Preparing and serving beverages, which may include coffee and cocktails, to high standards
  • Taking guest orders, making menu recommendations and highlighting promotions. Maximise upsell and suggestive selling opportunities
  • Working closely with the kitchen team to deliver a truly seamless food service
  • Handling credit and payment transactions in a secure manner
  • Be a responsible team player – comply with our WH&S, HACCP and crisis management policies and be a supporter for a greener hotel environment
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are cleaned, tidy and properly stocked according to anticipated business volume
  • Helping your team to share the workload and with other duties as required.

What We Need From You

  • Exceptional customer service skills working in a luxury resort environment.
  • The ability to create dining experiences exceeding our customers’ needs and expectations, and also have the ability to recommend beverages or any other product, pairing alongside our menus
  • This role involves table service, a la carte, cleaning and supporting other outlets, the ability to multitask is a must
  • You will have an eye for detail and be an enthusiastic and approachable person who is motivated to take ownership and consistently deliver a unique guest experience
  • A Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
  • Secondary Education or equivalent
  • You will also have the flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, late nights, weekends and public holidays across a seven-day roster
  • Full Australian working rights.

Conference & Events Attendants - Banquets (Casual)

Your day to day

  • Creating a warm welcome for every single client and guest that sets the tone for their experience with us
  • Set up and pack down and food and beverage service across our conference and events
  • Provide high-quality food and beverage service following banquet operation standards.
  • Preparing and serving drinks in a prompt manner
  • Helping set exceptional cleanliness standards across all work areas and equipment
  • Taking on ad-hoc duties to keep the service running smoothly.

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience in food and beverage service is preferred.
  • Communication and customer service skills
  • A Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
  • The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 23kg, which can also involve bending and kneeling
  • Your strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories
  • The flexibility to work across a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Full Australian working rights.
