We are now looking for a Publicist to join our team on a casual basis in Perth for our Summer of Tennis Lead in events. You will work with the Tennis Australia Public Relations team and the Tournament Director to plan and drive host city publicity plans for the United Cup in Perth and Sydney and the sport in general.

About The Role

In this role you will:

  • Work with Tennis Australia PR to drive awareness in Perth
  • Bring to life tournament PR milestones
  • Craft news angles and stories
  • Develop news focused pitches to engage journalists across print, online broadcast and radio
  • Act as a point of contact for media enquiries
  • Develop simple frameworks to ensure media receive relevant tournament information in a timely manner leading into and during the tournament
  • Keep comprehensive records of media coverage and media materials

About You

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience in public relations, media and/or related areas
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Good news sense with proven ability to recognise a good story and place it with the appropriate media
  • Ability to set priorities and schedules and meet strict deadlines
  • Tertiary / post-secondary studies in public relations / media / journalism
  • Preparedness to be flexible regarding workload, changing priorities and extended working hours associated with events and functions
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
