Job description:
Key Accountabilities will include:
- Staying abreast of current, new, or emerging threats and vulnerabilities relevant to both organisational context and region, with a familiarity of contemporary cyber security concepts and solutions.
- Triaging security alerts and incidents, to support the Cyber Security Analyst, Security Operations Lead, and our managed SOC partner to determine their validity and fidelity.
- Monitoring the SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and other security platforms such as EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response) to support the detection and response to any malicious or anomalous activity, alerts, or incidents.
- Act on security events and incidents with the guidance of the Cyber Security Analyst, Security Operations Lead, aiding in the prioritisation and escalation of coordinated and proportionate response actions.
- Supporting technical response efforts through timely engagement with the Security Operations Lead, managed SOC, end-users, and technical Operations teams.
- Communicating via the Security Operations Lead and other key stakeholders on incident statuses, and provide updates as required through to Management.
- Aiding in the identification of threats, vulnerabilities, and exposures across the Perenti information and communications technology landscape.
- Hunting for Indicators or Attack or Compromise (IoA’s / IoC's) and input into technical remediation efforts.
- Assist in the preparation and development of cyber security related artefacts, such as Playbooks, Procedures, and Technical Work Instructions.
- Supporting the engineering and delivery of cyber security solutions as required.
- Perform daily checks to verify that all critical cyber security controls, systems, and processes are functioning as expected, and that there are no urgent matters requiring immediate attention.
Key skills and experience required for you to thrive in this role, will include:
- A keen interest in contemporary cyber security, and an inherent desire for continual learning.
- Possession of, or progress towards industry recognised certifications / qualifications such as: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security Fundamentals and / or Associate level certifications.
- Awareness of contemporary cyber security frameworks and methodologies such as NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a team-first approach.
- Outcomes driven with demonstrable ability to achieve results and take direction.
- The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively to meet assigned outcomes.
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Cyber Security related discipline is desirable
- 1 to 2 years’ experience within Cyber is desirable but not a requirement for the role
