Project Overview
Bechtel has been selected to enter into an exclusive Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase on a number of landmark Australian Energy projects to provide a detailed and robust design to support a comprehensive project estimate and schedule. Following the submission of the ECI, the intent will be to move into an EPC phase of the projects whereby Bechtel will complete the detailed design and execute the construction of the projects.
Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for the major material procurement for a major wind farm project in Australia. As part of this role you will lead negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs. This role may require limited travel on the east coast of Australia.

Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for the major material procurement for a major wind farm project in Australia. As part of this role you will lead negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs. This role may require limited travel on the east coast of Australia.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and monitor project bidder’s lists, ensuring input is received from all procurement functions and other operational groups
- Develops procurement strategy documents in conjunction with other project stakeholders
- Communicate with Engineering to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions
- Directs negotiations in the commitment of purchases, following review and approval of the proposed negotiating plan
- Forms, issues, and administers purchase orders
- Communicates with suppliers to achieve required service and meets project needs
- Prepares and organises assigned Procurement sponsored meetings
- Contributes to the development and delivery of training to other purchasing personnel regarding all aspects of formation and administration of purchasing forms, procedures, and buying goods
- Collaborates with project Procurement team when instructed in solving and attending to administrative problems on commitments involving high monetary expenditure or risk, engineered technical specifications or supplemental commercial conditions
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Experience with major civil and electrical material procurements
- Ability to negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and contract terms with suppliers to get the best value for the company while maintaining strong relationships.
- Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring procurement activities do not delay overall project progress, while working without supervision.
- Knowledge of wind farm project execution is preferred
