About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for our existing employees to begin their journey towards obtaining a recognised trade qualification. We have opportunities in Electrical and Instrumentation, Mechanical (Fitter and Turner), Boilermaker or Bricklaying at Boyne Smelters.

This role is a great opportunity for hands-on self-starters who are looking to continue developing their career in Rio Tinto. You will be

  • Learning and developing trade knowledge and skills relating to plant maintenance, machinery, processes and systems deployed across the site.
  • Working towards completing an apprenticeship in conjunction with a nationally recognised training plan through internal and external training (i.e. TAFE).
  • Working as part of a team to ensure safe, continuous and environmentally responsible operations.
  • Gaining experience from a range of qualified trade experts whilst being supported by onsite apprentice mentors.

Eligibility

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria

  • 3 years of service as a full-time Rio Tinto employee at your current site
  • Performance ratings (P6) of at least 100% for the prior two years of employment
  • Completion of the Internal Apprentice Recommendation form, signed by your current Superintendent and Manager
  • Completion of year 12 certificate (preferred)

You will need to complete an online assessment after you have submitted your application (Mechanical aptitude test)
