As part of the broader Technology team, Store Team Platforms partner with the business to deliver quality technology solutions to make it easy for store team members to be customer obsessed. Our platforms are used by store team members daily ranging from critical applications, multiple instore devices including smart phones, iPads and back-office PC’s Software and Applications that are used across 100,000+ Supermarkets Team members and the Store Support Centre
About The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer you’ll be instrumental in fostering a collaborative, transparent, and solution-focused approach to achieve common goals. You will be required to communicate effectively cross functionally with engineering, quality, and operations to integrate software development workflows with infrastructure and deployment processes.
As part of this role, you will provide technical and design leadership in the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure and pipelines. This includes creating and managing CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment of applications across various environments.
You will provide guidance and mentorship to junior DevOps engineers and software developers and help to cultivate a high-performing team culture.
This role is pivotal in evolving our cloud engineering capability, building and maintaining secure, repeatable, and scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern automation tools. You’ll help define reusable Azure patterns and frameworks that enable the delivery of high-quality solutions.
You’re a hands-on engineer with a strong foundation in Microsoft Azure and a passion for building secure, scalable, and automated cloud solutions. You’re comfortable navigating complex environments, collaborating across teams, and delivering practical outcomes that align with business goals.
You’ll bring a mix of practical engineering experience, cloud expertise, and a mindset for continuous improvement

About You And Your Skills
- minimum of 3 years in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), focusing on building and maintaining complex infrastructure systems.
- Cloud Platforms and Tooling Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure (with Azure preferred) for managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
- Demonstrated practical understanding of tooling and frameworks, including Git, Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), JFrog Artifactory, Azure DevOps/GitHub
- Version Control Advanced experience with version control systems like Git and GitHub and configuration management tools such as helm
- Scripting and Automation Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, .NET, and JavaScript/Node.js. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar (Terraform preferred).
- Monitoring & Logging Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like Datadog, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Network & Security In-depth understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and security best practices in cloud-based environments.
- Experience Proven track record in delivering and/or providing technical services in distributed environments (e.g., Web-Based Services, Internet Products).
- Integration Systems Experience in delivering and/or providing technical services in Integration systems (e.g., Event Hub, Kafka, message queues).
- Problem-Solving Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Database Management Knowledge of database management, including relational and NoSQL databases
- Agile Methodologies Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in agile teams
- Hands on experience implementing complex solutions using multiple frameworks
- Understanding of contemporary data architecture, integration patterns and techniques, and industry logical models.
- Code review, testing, deployment, and support of solutions
