Role Purpose
We are seeking a Tenancy Area Lead to join Uniting and provide strategic leadership across our rental housing portfolio. This is a pivotal role that supports tenancy operations and compliance, drives performance improvement, and contributes to housing security and tenant wellbeing.
As the central point of contact for Housing Managers, Village Leads and Housing Specialists, you will champion sustainable tenancy outcomes and high-quality service delivery. This leadership role will influence the future direction of Uniting’s housing services, while fostering inclusive, safe, and engaged communities for our tenants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations and support across Uniting’s rental housing portfolio, ensuring compliance with legislation such as the NSW Residential Tenancies Act and Boarding Houses Act.
- Provide expert guidance to Housing Managers and Village Leads, promoting tenancy sustainability and strong tenant relationships.
- Oversee and support the annual village budget, monthly forecasting and negotiate budgets with applicable resident committees/ residents.
- Support the conversion of RVA to RTA contracts and ALL H.O.M.E project initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in tenancy management, housing services, and community engagement initiatives.
- Champion health and safety across your teams and work environments, promoting inclusive and supportive practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including tenants, resident committees, government agencies, and community partners.
- Support and participate in actively reducing vacancy Days and increasing occupancy.
- Lead contract management, asset maintenance planning, and service delivery with procurement and property teams, ensuring facilities are fit-for-purpose.
- Represent Uniting in local communities, coordinating services that meet the evolving needs of residents and promoting collaborative care models.
- Lead and support staff development through performance management, capability building, and succession planning.
- For regional appointments: manage day-to-day operations of multiple sites including incident response, compliance monitoring, and customer feedback resolution.
- Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience including at least 2 years in a team leadership or matrix management role.
- Proven track record in service delivery, operational management, and tenant engagement.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial oversight and contract negotiation.
- Sound understanding of housing regulations including the Retirement Villages Act and Residential Tenancies Act.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organisations and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Competency in project management, strategic planning and the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Experience in the aged care or community housing sector is highly regarded.
