About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our growing team, on secondment to a leading tertiary institution in Melbourne.
You'll help plan and deliver a diverse portfolio of impactful capital works within a dynamic campus environment. This is a permanent role with Broadleaf Projects, offering the opportunity to work across education, health, and civic infrastructure projects into the future.
You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex building projects—from new construction to major refurbishments and infrastructure upgrades—valued up to $100 million. As a trusted client-side advisor, you'll champion quality, safety, sustainability, and outstanding stakeholder outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver Complex Projects: Lead end-to-end delivery of capital works projects including new builds, fit-outs, refurbishments, and major infrastructure upgrades.
- Drive Sustainability: Drive sustainability goals through initiatives such as gas-to-electric transitions, energy efficiency upgrades, and broader sustainable construction practices.
- Manage Design & Construction: Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from feasibility and detailed design to construction, ensuring compliance, safety, and minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Lead Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams through clear, proactive communication.
- Procurement & Commercial Management: Manage tender processes, contract negotiations, budgets, variations, and forecasting with a strong focus on value, transparency, and accountability.
- Governance, Risk & Reporting: Prepare high-quality reports, dashboards, risk registers, and progress updates. Ensure all project work aligns with codes, safety standards, and environmental obligations.
- Foster Collaboration: Promote teamwork and shared success across internal and external project partners.
About You
- Proven Experience delivering large-scale capital works projects in complex operational environments (e.g., education, health, cultural, or government facilities).
- Deep Knowledge and understanding of refurbishments and new builds with minimal operational disruption.
- Leadership and Emotional Intelligence to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage diverse stakeholders, and navigate competing priorities with professionalism and empathy.
- Commercial Acumen and skills in budget management, procurement, contract administration, and risk management.
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving to manage multiple projects, adapting to changing priorities, and providing solutions in challenging contexts.
- Technical Experience in electrification initiatives, building services upgrades, and precinct-level infrastructure enablement is desirable but not essential.
- Client-Focused Communication to provide advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-level reports and confidently engage executive stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, AIPM) highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of building infrastructure, codes, safety standards, and compliance obligations.
