About the role
The Business Analysis team in Melbourne primarily works to support and expand our solutions in the wholesale electricity and gas markets. Our solutions encompass ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management - contracts management including risk management and settlements), spot bidding (including price forecasting and bid optimisation), market analytics and automation/orchestration. Opportunities to work with Energy One’s trading services business also arise frequently.
We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Our BA team works across a variety of internal and external projects, so the role requires someone who can thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
We are offering a fixed-term 12-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

Job Requirements
Your skills and experience
- Degree qualified in a technical discipline related to IT, finance or engineering
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, preferably focused on customer implementations.
- Customer focussed with strong communication skills
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Independent learning ability
- Knowledge of IT systems development processes and BPMN
- A working knowledge of software, database design and SQL is highly desirable
- Australian Energy market experience is desirable but not essential
- ETRM experience highly desirable but not essential
What you'll do
- Work as a member of the implementation team to deliver out-of-the-box and customised solutions for clients throughout Australasia
- Work with customers to understand their needs and identify the right solutions—this could be automating processes, designing or enhancing features, or developing new platforms to meet emerging demands.
- Conduct problem analysis, solution design and prepare technical change specifications for the development teams
- Provide ongoing ad hoc support for existing customer projects to ensure continued success and responsiveness to evolving needs.
