About the role:

An experienced Gardening worker with a heart for people, is being sought by the award-winning Nundah Co-op’s 'Youth Co-op' Gardening and Maintenance Team, who maintain a number of high profile public green spaces. 

The ideal candidate will:

·     have a kind way of working with others to create a positive team culture where cooperation is key – teamwork makes the dreamwork!

·     be experienced in gardening and landscaping including scheduled maintenance of planted gardens, lawns and landscapes – leads by example!

·     be capable of operating and training others in the use of ride on mowers and hand operated power tools – balances participation and production!

·     be highly organised and responsible – prepares & prevents!

·     be able to use IT systems & processes to report on work –  tech savvy!

This role is purpose driven, so we’re looking for someone who gets the job done and values:

The position is permanent 38 hours per week over five days. We will consider a casual or part time appointment for the right staff person.

Selection Criteria:

·      You promote a positive, inclusive team culture, build team confidence and skills, and thrive in an impact driven role that supports people with learning difficulties.

·      You’ve done gardening or property maintenance before and know how to use tools like mowers, line trimmers, and hedgers.

·      You can follow a work plan and let us know how things are going using tech like Microsoft, Apps or online forms.

·      You know how to use tools of the trade safely and can take care of equipment.

·      You like things clean and safe, and you’re happy to guide others to do the same.

·      You know how to keep the workspace organised, keep records and mitigate risks.

·      You’re organised and can help with rosters/timesheets using apps like Deputy.

·      You’re friendly and professional when talking with tenants, clients or neighbours.

·      You like finding better ways to do things and don’t mind trying new ideas.

·      You’re a team player who’s happy to help out wherever needed.

·      You hold a Class C driver’s licence, with experience towing and reversing trailers.

We welcome applicants with training or experience leading small teams in other fields but a Certificate in Horticulture or relevant hands-on experience in gardening will be well regarded.
