Integration Engineer
Sense Recruitment

Not all heroes wear capes - some just write brilliant integrations.
We’re partnered with a client that’s in the midst of a large-scale transformation – a journey that’s touching every part of their organisation. As systems shift, platforms evolve, and cloud adoption accelerates, one thing is clear: seamless integration is essential. That’s why they’re looking for a Data Integration Engineer who’s passionate about building smart, reliable, and scalable connections between systems, data, and people.
This role is at the intersection of transformation, technology, and teamwork. You’ll be working with a broad mix of internal teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure that everything from legacy platforms to cloud applications can speak the same language – efficiently, securely, and at scale.
If you're someone who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, thrives in high-change environments, and brings both technical skills and strong communication to the table, we’d love to hear from you.
Here’s what the role will involve
As the Data Integration Engineer, you’ll play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining the integration architecture required to support the organisation’s evolving IT landscape. This includes working across multiple systems, data formats, and protocols – bringing together everything from internal apps to cloud platforms and third-party solutions.
You’ll be responsible for delivering solutions that enable the flow of information across business units and ensure data is consistent, accurate, and available where it’s needed. You’ll also help shape the way the business approaches DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to support smoother, faster, and more secure delivery.
In this role, you will
- Design, build, and maintain integrations across cloud and on-premise environments, using a variety of tools and techniques
- Work with REST and SOAP APIs, JSON/XML message formats, and specifications like OpenAPI and WSDL to ensure systems can exchange data effectively
- Leverage your scripting and programming skills (e.g. Java, JavaScript) to develop integration components and automation tools
- Create and maintain data transformations using XSLT and ETL logic, including parsing flat files, CSVs, and working with middleware platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define integration requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure consistent delivery of reliable data
- Support CI/CD processes and work with cloud technologies such as Azure to deploy and manage services in line with DevOps best practices
- Contribute to the broader integration strategy, helping to futureproof systems and processes as the business continues to scale
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring
- A strong technical foundation in web services and APIs, including deep knowledge of REST/SOAP, JSON, XML, OpenAPI, and WSDL
- Hands-on experience with programming/scripting languages such as Java and JavaScript
- Experience with data mapping and transformation tools, including XSLT, flat file parsing, and ETL pipeline logic
- Familiarity with iPaaS platforms, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), API gateways, and message brokers
- Exposure to Azure, and working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps fundamentals
- Previous experience using webMethods and Oracle Integration would be highly regarded
- A collaborative, proactive attitude – you’re a natural communicator, a creative problem solver, and someone who thrives in a dynamic environment
Why this role? Why now?
You’ll be joining a business that’s genuinely transforming – not just upgrading their tech, but reshaping how they operate. This role sits within a team that’s helping drive that change from the inside out. You’ll have a seat at the table, a voice in the conversation, and the opportunity to help architect the systems and processes that will support the business for years to come.
You’ll also be part of a delivery-focused, down-to-earth, and collaborative team that values shared success. They’re looking for someone who brings both technical confidence and team spirit – someone who can hit the ground running, build trust, and help bring this transformation to life.
