COMBAT SYSTEMS SUPPORT OPERATIONS MANAGER
The role
The Combat System Support Optimisation Manager is a critical role that contributes to the efficiency, effectiveness, and operational readiness. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a strong understanding of defence operations, regulations and contracting / procurement. This is a specialised role and background and experience in Defence is desirable for this role.

A defence security clearance is required for this role. Applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of NV1 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight and part time will be considered for this role.

The role

This is a specialised role and background and experience in Defence is desirable for this role.
This role will be accountable for:
- Optimising the delivery of combat system support services to ensure efficient delivery that meets the operational needs of our customer.
- Working collaboratively across internal and external teams to develop and achieve buy in across the stakeholder group.
- Liaise and co-ordinate with internal stakeholders to implement the required changes to achieve the optimsed delivery outcome.
Solution Development:
- Understand the current delivery scope and approach for sustainment at Saab
- Engage with stakeholders to achieve agreement with both internal and external stakeholders for the proposed solution.
- Work collaboratively with the relevant functional teams to develop the required change documentation including contract and processes.
- Collaboratively work with our internal teams to develop and document a cohesive and efficient combat system support services solution that is compliant with our contract, provides the service levels required, and maximises value for money.
- Following development of the optimised combat systems sustainment solution, develop a change management plan in conjunction with Saab functional support areas.
- Effectively manage collaborative relationships with peers and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate, engage and actively contribute as a member of the Leadership Team to ensure team success.
- Assist in the recruitment, development and placement of staff within the Sustainment organisation if required to deliver the outcome
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Your skills and experience will include:
- Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of sustainment outcomes for Defence, preferably in the maritime domain.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with delivery of sustainment compliant with ASDEFCON requirements.
- Demonstrated high level leadership and collaboration skills, particularly in the delivery of time constrained outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working in a complex stakeholder environment including negotiation skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport, develop trusted relationships and find win-win solutions with customers and the business.
- Demonstrated experience maturing and delivering operational excellence/high performance within a sustainment environment.
- Sound decision making capabilities, giving consideration to wider business implications and reputational consequences. Highly effective communications skills, with the ability to easily tailor approaches to effectively engage and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders in various environments and for varying purpose
- Tertiary qualifications in a business or logistics discipline.
- Post-graduate qualifications in engineering or business management/administration desirable but not essential.
