POSITION SUMMARY

GPN Vaccines is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to support immunological testing. This role is primarily responsible for preparing laboratory reagents, maintaining tissue culture cells, and ensuring the upkeep and calibration of laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the scientific team by ensuring the lab runs efficiently and adheres to quality and safety standards. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, log, and process clinical trial samples according to GCLP standards and laboratory SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable laboratory records, including sample tracking, equipment logs, and result entries.
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment as per SOPs and manufacturer requirements.
  • Prepare and label stock and working solutions, buffers, and reagents according to protocols or SOPs.
  • Assist in validation and verification of analytical methods and instruments as directed.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing records and explaining procedures when needed.
  • Report deviations, non-conformances, or equipment failures to the Laboratory Manager and Quality Assurance.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to ongoing GCLP compliance.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent with experience working in a clinical or research laboratory.
  • Experience working in a GxP environment highly regarded.
  • Experience in microbiology, tissue culturing and flow cytometry highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with electronic systems used in clinical or laboratory environments (e.g. LIMS).
  • Strong understanding of immunological assay techniques and sample handling.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively anticipate needs of the company.
  • Responsive and able to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines whilst ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional record keeping.
